PALMOILMAGAZINE, BOGOR – Olenka once again brought palm oil literacy to the public through its flagship event Sawit on Town (SWOT) 2025. Now in its third edition, the event took place at Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong, West Java, on Sunday (Sept 14, 2025), offering communities an opportunity to better understand the benefits of palm oil, particularly from a health perspective.

Edy Nurmansyah, Founder of Olenka Kreasi Festival, highlighted Indonesia’s fortune in having palm oil as a strategic commodity. “Palm oil is more than just cooking oil. We find it every day in soap, shampoo, detergent, lipstick, bread, chocolate, biscuits, margarine, even infant formula,” Edy explained in a statement quoted by beige-heron-208544.hostingersite.com, Friday (Aug 19, 2025).

SWOT 2025 was organized in collaboration with the Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP). According to Muhammad Farouq Rosyadi, Analyst at BPDP’s Institutional Cooperation Division, palm oil literacy must reach across generations. “Public understanding should be comprehensive, not only in terms of economics but also health and nutrition,” he stressed.

Health-related issues surrounding palm oil were further explored in the SWOT Talks session. Dr. (Cand.) Inggrid Tania, M.Si, Chairperson of PDPOTJI, affirmed that palm oil is safe for consumption when used in moderation. “One tablespoon per meal is sufficient. Palm oil is also rich in provitamin A, which supports eye health, and tocotrienol vitamin E, which helps protect the liver and brain,” she explained.

Public perception of palm oil has also seen a shift. Olenka’s Editor-in-Chief, Cahyo Prayogo, noted that awareness today is far more positive compared to a decade ago. “Palm oil is a flagship commodity that Indonesians should be proud of. Don’t be swayed by negative campaigns—always seek credible sources of information,” he emphasized. (P2)
