PALMOILMAGAZINE, ACEH — Efforts to strengthen human resources (HR) capacity in the palm oil sector are once again being intensified. The Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP), in collaboration with the Directorate General of Plantations at the Ministry of Agriculture and IPB Training, officially launched the Technical Training on Palm Oil Plantation Mapping from August 5–8, 2025, in Aceh Province.
The program forms part of the 2025 Palm Oil Plantation Human Resource Development Training Series (Batches 1–3), focusing on improving technical skills in plantation land mapping.
A total of 89 participants took part in the training, comprising farmers, agricultural extension workers, and technical practitioners from two key palm oil–producing districts in Aceh: Aceh Tamiang (60 participants) and East Aceh (29 participants).

In his opening remarks, IPB Training Director Muhammad Sigit Susanto emphasized the importance of mastering mapping technology as the foundation for more efficient and sustainable plantation management. “This training is not just about using tools — it’s about mapping potential, identifying challenges, and finding accurate, practical solutions in the field,” he said in a statement to beige-heron-208544.hostingersite.com on Tuesday (Aug. 5, 2025).
The opening ceremony was also attended by M. Apuk Ismane, representing the Head of the Agricultural Extension and Human Resource Development Agency (BPPSDMP), who stressed that the initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to improving HR quality in Indonesia’s palm oil sector.
Meanwhile, Director of Oil Palm and Various Palma Crops, Baginda Siagian, highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration to support the sustainability of the national palm oil industry. “With accurate land data, plantation planning becomes more targeted, and productivity can be increased,” he noted.
The training was symbolically inaugurated by Mukhlis, Head of Agricultural and Plantation Extension and HR Development at the Aceh Provincial Office. Mukhlis stated that the program is highly relevant for Aceh, a region with significant potential in the palm oil sector.
Participants will receive intensive instruction on the fundamentals of plantation land mapping, equipment familiarization and operation, tracking techniques, field data processing, digital map presentation, and hands-on field mapping using a participatory approach. The sessions are supported by experts with deep expertise in their respective fields.
By the conclusion of the program, participants are expected to return to their communities equipped with practical knowledge and technical skills that can be directly applied to strengthen modern, sustainable, and data-driven palm oil plantation management. (P2)
