PALMOILMAGAZINE, ACEH JAYA — Students from the Industrial Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Teuku Umar University (UTU), carried out an industrial visit to the Aceh Seujahtera Palm Oil Mill (PKS) owned by PT Agro Sinergi Nusantara (PT ASN) in Teunom District, Aceh Jaya Regency, from October 21–23, 2025.
The visit was part of the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in the Introduction to Industrial Engineering course. Through this approach, students are encouraged to learn actively by observing real industrial processes and developing project reports based on actual problems encountered on-site.
The student group was led by course lecturer Dr. Fitriadi, who explained that the activity aimed to bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world industrial practice.
“Through this program, students not only learn theory but also interact directly with complex industrial systems. They learn how to identify issues, analyze data, and formulate project-based solutions that are relevant and applicable,” said Dr. Fitriadi, as quoted by beige-heron-208544.hostingersite.com from UTU, Friday (24/10/2025).

The delegation was welcomed by PT ASN’s Mill Manager, Rieza Harianda Panjaitan, and his management team. The visit began with a company profile presentation and an in-depth explanation of the Crude Palm Oil (CPO) production process, followed by an interactive discussion session.
Students then toured the production site to observe operational systems, facility layouts, and quality control procedures at the Aceh Seujahtera Palm Oil Mill. Based on their observations, students were divided into groups to prepare project reports covering four key areas: manufacturing systems, facility layout and location, material handling and distribution routes, production planning and control, and quality management.
According to Rieza Harianda Panjaitan, collaboration between universities and industry is essential to developing skilled professionals ready to face industrial challenges.
“We truly appreciate Teuku Umar University’s initiative to connect academic learning with industrial practice. Visits like this allow students to understand the realities of production and operational challenges firsthand,” he said.

The students also expressed enthusiasm about the program, noting that it provided them with practical insights into how industrial engineering principles are applied in real operations.
“Many concepts we only learned in class now make more sense after seeing and analyzing them directly in the field,” said one student representative. (P2)
