PALMOILMAGAZINE, MAMUJU TENGAH – The West Sulawesi Provincial Plantation Office (Disbun Sulbar) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the Regional Action Plan for Sustainable Palm Oil Plantations (RAD PKSB). As a concrete step, Disbun Sulbar conducted a palm oil seed certification program in Kabubu Village, Topoyo District, Central Mamuju Regency, from August 4–6, 2025.

This initiative is part of the implementation of Presidential Instruction No. 6 of 2019 on the National Action Plan for Sustainable Palm Oil Plantations (RAN PKSB) and Governor Regulation No. 19 of 2021 on the RAD PKSB of West Sulawesi.

The certification process was carried out on Dami Mas variety palm oil seeds owned by PT Haji Wardoyo Topoyo, aged 8–10 months. Seed Supervisors (PBT) conducted on-site inspections, starting from tracing seed origin documents to conducting physical verification. Physical checks included counting the seeds, inspecting frond conditions, leaf color, and overall plant health.

All stages followed the standards set under Minister of Agriculture Decree No. 4 of 2025, ensuring that seeds distributed to farmers meet national quality standards.

According to Acting Head of the West Sulawesi Plantation Office, Muh. Faisal Tamrin, strengthening the seed certification system is crucial for guaranteeing seed quality. “We are reinforcing palm oil seed certification to ensure high-quality seeds in West Sulawesi,” Faisal stated, as quoted by beige-heron-208544.hostingersite.com from Disbun Sulbar on Friday (Aug 8, 2025).

He added that the supply of officially certified, high-quality seeds forms the foundation for boosting productivity and ensuring sustainability in the upstream plantation sector. “One certified quality seed is one step toward a better future for our plantation communities,” he emphasized.

With high-quality seeds, palm oil productivity in West Sulawesi is expected to rise, driving inclusive and sustainable local economic growth. This initiative aligns with the first mission of Governor Suhardi Duka and Deputy Governor Salim S. Mengga—to promote inclusive and sustainable economic development.

Head of UPTD-BPSPMBP, Muh. Fadlullah, stressed that seed certification is also a momentum for seed producers and businesses to comply with regulations. “With certification, seed producers and business actors will follow the law,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Agustina Palimbong, Secretary of RAD-PKSB Sulbar and Acting Head of the Processing and Marketing of Plantation Products Division (PPHP), emphasized the importance of synergy between the government, business actors, NGOs, and communities. According to her, such collaboration can position palm oil plantation development in West Sulawesi as a model of sustainable natural resource management, providing long-term benefits for future generations.
