PALMOILMAGAZINE, MAMUJU – The West Sulawesi Provincial Office of Cooperatives, SMEs, Industry, and Trade (Koperindag) has voiced its support for the planned working visit of Commission II of the West Sulawesi Regional House of Representatives (DPRD). The commitment was conveyed during a preparatory meeting held at the Commission II meeting room in Mamuju on Tuesday (August 19, 2025).

The working visit will follow up on public concerns regarding alleged encroachment into protected forest areas, land boundary disputes involving PT Pasangkayu’s cultivation rights (HGU), and monitoring of Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) prices at the farmer level.

Head of Trade at the West Sulawesi Koperindag, Muhammad Najib Ali—joined by Goods and Services Supervisor Arifuddin—affirmed the office’s readiness to play a strategic role. “As instructed by our leadership and based on the meeting outcomes, we are prepared to facilitate dialogue between Commission II DPRD and palm oil companies operating in West Sulawesi,” Najib Ali said, as beige-heron-208544.hostingersite.com quoted from the West Sulawesi Provincial Government on Thursday (August 21, 2025).

He emphasized that such facilitation is crucial to ensure the council’s oversight functions are carried out effectively. The upcoming visit will focus on inter-island trade of palm oil commodities and their derivatives, as well as the recalibration of measuring instruments used by companies.

This joint effort between the executive and legislative branches aligns with the vision of West Sulawesi Governor Suhardi Duka to create a fair, transparent, and community-centered business climate, particularly for smallholder farmers.

With stronger oversight, the government expects palm oil trade governance in West Sulawesi to comply with regulations while delivering tangible benefits for the province’s economy. (P2)
