PALMOILMAGAZINE, MEULABOH — Member of the Aceh House of Representatives (DPRA) Nurchalis has called on the central government and the Aceh provincial government to establish a crude palm oil (CPO) export port on Aceh’s west coast. The initiative, he said, would enhance regional revenues and boost local economic growth.

“With a dedicated CPO export port, Aceh’s locally generated revenue (pendapatan asli daerah/PAD) can be optimized, creating stronger economic value for the people,” said Nurchalis, quoted by beige-heron-208544.hostingersite.com from Antara.

According to him, PAD is a crucial financial source for regional governments that must be developed seriously, particularly through the palm oil industry operating across Aceh’s west and southwest regions.

Currently, most palm oil companies in Aceh export their CPO through Belawan Port in Medan, North Sumatra, meaning that tax revenues from these exports flow to North Sumatra instead of Aceh.

“Information we received indicates that the taxes generated from Aceh’s CPO exports through North Sumatra ports reach trillions of rupiah annually,” Nurchalis said.

He emphasized that this situation has caused a significant loss in potential revenue for the Aceh government, as those export taxes should have contributed to the province’s own PAD.

“The way to ensure these taxes become part of Aceh’s income is by building a dedicated export port for CPO,” he added.

To strengthen this effort, Commission III of DPRA recently held a working meeting with palm oil mill operators and plantation representatives from across Aceh’s west and southwest regions at a hotel in Meulaboh on Friday (31 October).

The meeting, initiated by Commission III, also discussed industrial fuel (BBM) usage by plantation companies and urged them to report such data to the Aceh Financial Management Agency (BPKA). A total of 89 palm oil companies were invited to participate in the session, marking a concrete step toward improving transparency and maximizing Aceh’s regional income through the palm oil sector.
