PALMOILMAGAZINE, KUBU RAYA – The Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) is driving an entrepreneurial movement to foster new businesses based on palm oil derivative products. The initiative was introduced at the 5th Indonesia Palm Oil Smallholder Conference and Expo (IPOSC), held in Kubu Raya on Thursday (Sept. 25, 2025).
Helmi Muhansyah, Head of BPDP’s Community and MSME Partnerships Division, explained that forums like IPOSC provide a platform for knowledge sharing while also reinforcing the rights and responsibilities of palm oil stakeholders, particularly smallholders and MSMEs.
“One key formula is how we can channel domestic consumption so palm oil is not only known as cooking oil. Through this forum, we want to spark the creation of 1,000 MSME ventures that utilize palm oil as raw material,” Helmi told beige-heron-208544.hostingersite.com.

He highlighted several creative products already being developed, ranging from palm frond handicrafts to culinary innovations made from palm-based derivatives. The movement, he added, will involve various organizations, entrepreneur communities, and women’s groups that have rarely been directly engaged with palm oil–based innovations.
“If every organization can bring in two or three individuals committed to developing palm-based products, the impact will be significant. We aim to build a collective movement—not just promoting palm oil, but diversifying products that MSMEs can observe, replicate, and adapt,” Helmi said.
BPDP also plans to provide commercialization support for small- and medium-scale businesses. According to Helmi, palm oil’s potential spans a wide range of products, from batik wax substitutes to culinary items and creative crafts.
“The key is to help people better understand that palm oil can appear in many forms of everyday products. This way, its benefits are not only felt upstream but also help foster MSME growth and new entrepreneurship downstream,” he concluded. (P2)
