PALMOILMAGAZINE, SOLO – Environmentally friendly batik made with certified palm-based wax is now on display at Adi Sumarmo Airport, Solo. Through an exhibition at the departure lounge, the Forum Pengembangan Kampoeng Batik Laweyan (FPKBL) and its member, Batik Tjap Tiga Negri, are introducing a sustainable innovation that uses RSPO-certified palm-based stearin as a substitute for paraffin in the batik-making process.
Since 2022, FPKBL has collaborated with the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) to develop this new method as part of its commitment to greener and more responsible batik production. The stearin used in the wax is derived from responsibly sourced palm oil, verified through RSPO certification.
Muchammad Nugroho, owner of Batik Tjap Tiga Negri, noted strong interest from airport visitors. “Many passengers are curious and eager to learn more about palm-based batik. We’ve taken this opportunity to share knowledge and answer their questions,” he said in a statement received by beige-heron-208544.hostingersite.com.
